Geomaksan Flower and Star Journey
September 18, 2026 - October 11, 2026Overview
The 6th Geomaksan Flower and Star Journey, a signature autumn festival in Geochang, will be held from September 18 to October 11, 2026, around Byeolbaram Hill at the summit of Geomaksan in Sinwon-myeon, Geochang-gun. This year’s theme is “A Purple Comma for Myself,” bringing together a variety of performances, hands-on activities, and food against the backdrop of the autumn atmosphere and Geomaksan’s natural scenery. The festival officially begins with the opening event on September 18, featuring a pre-event performance, an opening performance, and an exploration of the Korean chrysanthemum gardens. Throughout the festival, visitors can enjoy a variety of performances, including busking, the Sunset Hill Concert, a celebratory performance by the Geochang Music Association, and a magic show for children. A wide range of hands-on programs is also available. Visitors can receive souvenirs through photo zones set up throughout the venue, a stamp tour, and a social media verification event. A slow mailbox will be installed at Byeolbaram Hill, allowing visitors to write letters and receive them before next year’s festival, along with many other attractions. Food is another major highlight of the festival. At the Flower and Star Market, operated by local farms and businesses, visitors can discover Geochang specialties and processed products. At the food market run by the women’s associations of Namsang-myeon and Sinwon-myeon, they can enjoy generous servings of dishes such as bibimbap, gukbap, savory pancakes, and tofu with kimchi at affordable prices. The food truck zone also offers convenient treats such as coffee, sikhye, and hot dogs. For the 6th Geomaksan Flower and Star Journey this year, visitors arriving without a private vehicle can use the shuttle bus. Those traveling by car should check the website and make an advance reservation before visiting.
