Food information for the 2026 festival is currently being updated.* Ginseng is one of Korea’s 대표ive health foods, known for helping restore energy and boost immunity. The Punggi Ginseng Festival takes place in October, when ginseng is at its most nutritious, in Yeongju, one of Korea’s renowned ginseng-producing regions. True to its theme of ginseng, a symbol of health, the festival offers exhibitions and hands-on activities related to health that visitors of all ages can enjoy. Special programs include the Gaesamteo Traditional Ceremony, a reenactment of County Magistrate Ju Se-bung’s procession, and the Great Ginseng Ceremony. Visitors can sample ginseng dishes made with nutritious Punggi ginseng and enjoy fun hands-on activities related to Punggi ginseng, including an entertaining ginseng-peeling experience. Fresh ginseng and red ginseng carefully harvested by local ginseng farmers, along with processed foods made from ginseng, are also available at affordable prices.
