Hangang History Tour

The Hangang History Tour program offers engaging guided tours and educational experiences that allow citizens and visitors to appreciate and share the scenic, historical, and cultural resources of the Hangang River while experiencing and enjoying the riverside. It also aims to promote Hangang historical culture as part of everyday life by developing a variety of content, including hands-on activities, in which citizens can actively participate and gain firsthand experience. Participants walk along designated routes through the Hangang River basin and nearby cultural heritage sites while listening to commentary from a Hangang tour guide. The Hangang History Tour operates across a total of 16 routes, allowing participants to explore the history of the Hangang River associated with each route as they walk along it.

Course 1 (Gwangnaru-gil): The beginning of Gyeonggang and wartime history. Main route: Pungnaptoseong Fortress – Statue of Lady Domi – Gwangjin Bridge Eighth Avenue – Gwangnaru Ferry Landing Marker Course 2 (Songpanaru-gil): The formation and development of the city. Main route: Samjeondobi Monument – Seokchon Lake – Songpanaru Ferry Landing Marker – Seokchon-dong Ancient Tombs Course 3 (Ttukseom Naru-gil): The founding of Joseon and the gathering of timber. Main route: Jeongwanwon – Majodan Altar – Salgoji Bridge – Jungnangcheon Stream – Gongs's Bookstore Course 4 (Nodeulnaru-gil): The Confucian ideals of loyalty and filial piety. Main route: Hyosajeong Pavilion – Memorial Monument for the Student Volunteer Corps – Hangang Bridge – Jugyo-sa Marker – Yongyangbongjeojeong Pavilion – Sayuksin Park Course 5 (Dongjakjin-gil): The history of Dongjakjin, a site of auspicious geomantic features. Main route: Dongjaknaru Ferry Landing Marker – Seoul National Cemetery (main gate – Hyeonchung Tower – Patriotic Martyrs' Cemetery) Course 6 (Yeouinaru-gil): The Miracle on the Han River. Main route: National Assembly Building – Yeouido Park (Culture Plaza – Traditional Forest) – Mulbit Plaza at Yeouido Hangang Park Course 7 (Seogangnaru-gil): The transport of grain and fish. Main route: Gwangheungchang – Shrine of King Gongmin – Bamseom Bugundang Shrine – Seogangnaru Ferry Landing Marker – Bamseom Park Course 8 (Yanghwanaru-gil): The influx of foreign cultures. Main route: Foreign Missionaries' Cemetery – Site of Yanghwajin – Jeoldusan Martyrs' Shrine – Yanghwanaru Ferry Landing Marker Course 9 (Seonyudo-gil): Hangang development and the environment. Main route: Seonyudo Monument – Seonyudo Park – Northwest Observation Deck Course 10 (Gongamnaru-gil): Legends of the Han River and Heo Jun. Main route: Heo Jun Theme Street – Gongamnaru Ferry Landing – Heo Gawibawi Rock – Gwangjubawi Rock – Heo Jun Museum (*) Course 11 (Gyeomjae Jeong Seon-gil): Gyeomjae's paintings of the Han River. Main route: Yangcheon Hyanggyo Confucian Academy – Soakru Pavilion – Gyeomjae Jeong Seon Museum (*) Course 12 (Nanjiflower Island-gil): The past and present of Nanjido. Main route: Yongsan History Museum – Hangang-daero and Hangang Bridge – Hangang Railway Bridge – Saenamteo Catholic Church – Railway Quarters Course 14 (Donghonaru-gil), formerly Gosanja-gil: Scenic attractions along the Han River, centered on Donghonaru Ferry Landing. Main route: Jungnangcheon Stream – Eungbongsan Mountain – Muswaemak Site Marker – Ichon Hangang Park Course 15 (Maponaru-gil): The various faces of the Han River shaped by Mapo. Main route: Boksakkochi Children's Park – Site of D damaljeong – Monument Commemorating the Origin of Mapo Terminus – Maponaru Sculpture – Site of Tojeong Yi Ji-ham's House – Jeonggujung House Course 16 (Seobinggo-gil): The storage and distribution of ice during the Joseon Dynasty. Main route: Seobinggo Marker – Seobinggo Bugundang Shrine – Hangang Art Park – Hangang Mansion – Geobukseon Ferry Landing
