2026 Geumnam-ro Car-Free Street “Geotja-ing”

“Geotja-ing” combines the local dialect expression “geotja” (“let’s walk”) with the present progressive suffix “-ing,” conveying the idea of walking and enjoying Geumnam-ro together. In line with Gwangju’s declaration to transition to a “Dae-Ja-Bo City” (public transportation, bicycles, and walking), this event aims to help overcome the climate crisis and create an urban street where relaxation and communication come together through the promotion of public transportation, cycling, and walking. In 2026, it will be held on the first Saturday of every month from April through November, providing an environment where citizens can walk freely, along with a variety of hands-on programs and cultural performances.
