The 2026 Year of Visiting Islands will shed new light on the ecological and cultural assets of Korea’s islands and mark a full-fledged leap forward toward making Korea a leading island tourism destination that draws the world’s attention. In particular, 2026 will offer an even wider range of attractions and activities in conjunction with the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, the world’s first expo held around the theme of islands. The excitement of the expo will spread to islands across the country, while a diverse array of programs taking place throughout 2026—from promotions supporting island travel expenses to Culture Week events—will allow visitors to experience firsthand the true relaxation and renewed vitality that islands have to offer.
